What’s Next?

There are always holidays anticipated . . . and gone . . . What’s next?

Nothing more in July, then nothing in August . . . unless Back to School is a major concern on your radar and To Do List . . . maybe a vacation is in the works . . . maybe a camping trip or visiting friends and family . . . Labor Day in September . . . Columbus Day in October and of course, Halloween . . . is it too early to go with Halloween? Why am I asking, I’ve been putting in all kinds of Halloween or fall related stuff in here. It does take time to get some projects completed in anticipation of Halloween or any special holiday to you. Some people anticipate Christmas all year round . . . this is their thing . . . just as with any other holiday we find of special significance to us. Some people who find the 4th of July special may be right now planning for next year’s 4th of July bash.

Diva has something to say about the 4th of July:

After the 3 A.M. wake-up call yesterday. The day went pretty normally except for the goodies cooking on the BBQ. I was in great aromas heaven. By the time the boom-booms started up again I was tired and was getting some well deserved nap time. I was right next to Mom the whole time and she told me everything was all right and I was safe and I could rest . . . so I did. I would look to make sure Mom was still there. She was busy working on something, so if she wasn’t concerned, I didn’t need to be either. So I slept while Mom was in charge. All I can say is that the 4th of July is a great day for America. I am an American, too. I was born right here in the good ol’ USA. It’s all about Independence and America’s birthday. I learned about birthdays with my first one just a while back. I got a couple of new toys for my birthday that had napping time with me. So with the great 4th of July celebration, I learned about a new holiday. The best part is Mom and I celebrated it together. If it’s a holiday or just any ol’ day, I’m happy to be with my Mom . . .  . and I know she loves being with me . . . My little lamb has a squeaky inside that needs to be squeaked . . .

Maybe I should have changed the caption to read: Did I hear someone mention Halloween?

I suppose it is never too early to work on different craft ideas or to begin thinking about Halloween costumes. That is a big deal. You do need to have a good idea early what you want before you get all confused by the variety of costumes.

Depending upon the weather where you live, warmth and comfort are major factors besides being that something you want to be or your children want to be. I remember as a kid wanting to be comfortable. I didn’t like wearing a mask. I wasn’t too fond of having my head and face covered. Wearing make-up was better than wearing a mask. I liked to be able to see where I was going and I didn’t want to trip on my costume . . . especially going up and down steps. These are important things to think about with your costume selection. Now, if you’re just going to a party and not going trick-or-treating then your selection may be completely different. Sometimes it is fun to get your friends to dress up like you and do some song and dance routine. The Roaring ’20’s flapper costumes are great fun and the hair and make-up you can do. Then you can learn to dance the Charleston and everyone will be joining in the fun, too. I wonder if there are some costumes for that . . . When you get an idea, you have to act on it quickly before it spreads and there are no costumes available.

Well, here are some ideas that you have plenty of time to work out. It’s important to get the right accessories. Definitely food for thought that may lead you in a completely different direction.

Thanks for stopping by!

Early 4th of July Celebrators

WIN_20150702_160411 (2)

At three in the morning some neighbor decided to shoot off fireworks. It accomplished two things. It woke Diva and me up and it upset Diva. . . well, I’m not thrilled by this early celebrator. This is not going to be good.

I was in a hang-out last night with my internet marketing group. One person was commenting about how unhappy his dogs were. There were fireworks going off in his neighborhood last night. And his dogs are all much older than my precious Diva. They were hiding out to get away from the noise.

One thing I can say about my little girl, she is brave. She has let it be known that she didn’t appreciate having her sleep disturbed by such nonsense. I was surprised other dogs in the neighborhood weren’t protesting. They must have hidden out. Or slept through it. We’ll have to wait and see how the day and night progress.

As long as I’m up, I guess a recipe is in order. I do wonder what would be appropriate for 3 in the morning, but I’m sure I can stir up something.

I am feeling like eggs. Some nice fluffy scrambled eggs. This is a good I was awakened at 3 in the morning by fireworks breakfast. Yes, I think these scrambled eggs would be excellent on toast or an English muffin . . . or even a bagel.

3 A.M. Impromptu Breakfast

Let’s get the ingredients gathered:

This recipe will serve 3 or fewer, depending upon how hungry everyone is. If you need more just double the recipe.

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons of diced butter
  • 2 tablespoons of sour cream
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 chives or green onions
  • 3 slices of the bread of your choice or English muffins or bagels

Now to put this recipe together:

  1. Break the eggs into a cold pan, then place on the lowest heat.
  2. Add half the butter.
  3. Stir continuously to combine the yolks with the whites.
  4. When the eggs begin to set, add the remaining butter.
  5. The eggs will take approximately 4 to 5 minutes to scramble. You’ll want them to be soft and lumpy.
  6. You can now toast the bread, muffin or bagel.
  7. Add the sour cream, salt and pepper at the last minute. Then top with chives or the green onion.
  8. Put the toast on the plate and pile the scrambled egg mixture on top and serve.

This was easy enough, even at 3 in the morning. And it is so very delicious!

Have A Safe And Happy 4th of July

Many of us have been grillin’ and chillin’ feasting on BBQ while others are spending quality time at the beach. This is truly an exciting weekend!

And now a word from Little Miss Diva:

Mom and I are talking all about this great 4th of July celebration. This is my first year celebrating this holiday. There will be fireworks with booms and pops. It doesn’t sound like much fun for me, but Mom says we can watch the fireworks in the sky from our patio.

I think I may like the sky lighting up with beautiful colors, but the booms and the pops may be something I won’t like. The BBQ feasts are quite nice, they do smell yummy . . . and I’m eager to be the official taster. We all have to work together and I’m eager to do what I do best — eat.

Have a safe and fun 4th of July. And please keep your furry friends safe.

Fireworks displayed over the American Flag

Yes, have a safe and fun 4th of July!! Keep your kids and pets safe. This is going to be a new experience for my little Diva. It’s my job to keep her safe and feeling secure.

It’s important that I’m going to be home with her during all the festivities. I want to share this experience with her. Just as we’ve been together during lightning and thunder storms. It’s always nice to have a little furry friend to hold and hug during these nights and days when the weather and celebrations are being heard. It’s important that my little Diva feels secure.

This is one of those weekends that many have been anticipating for quite some time . . . and it’s finally here!

Every year we’re told that fireworks are prohibited in our county, but then we see they are being sold . . . and being fired off. So much depends upon my neighbors and how they plan to celebrate this weekend . . . and whether it begins tonight and continues on throughout the weekend. This may be a little difficult to handle and explain to Diva . . . but we’ll play it by ear. I don’t know why noise has to be part of this, but I may be getting old and prefer to have it nice and quiet.

I’ll leave you with this Patriotic Oreo Pop video:

Have fun!! Be safe!!
