A Christmas Message

This Christmas quote is so lovely. What fabulous inspiration for the upcoming Christmas holiday!

Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.

Once in a while you read something that stops you in your tracks. This inspirational expression or quote seemed appropriate to share during this holiday season. In all the rushing around we do in preparation for Christmas it’s important to stop and listen to reflect upon what the season is all about and what the season truly means . . .  to you. Not to anyone else, but to you.

It doesn’t have to be while opening presents. It can be before dinner, while wrapping presents . . . even while shopping or driving to your next destination. Just take a moment to stop . . . and listen to what is around you . . . you’ll notice it’s always with you . . . it’s love.

It doesn’t have to be a spiritual thing . . . it’s just an interesting experiment . . . see what you feel and hear. It could be while you’re eating something special for the season. Maybe even a piece of a candy cane will give you that “special” holiday feeling. What is it? Is it love . . . or something else? How does it make you feel?

This reminds me of Thanksgiving and taking a moment to count your blessings and be thankful. But there is something magical about Christmas. It isn’t about remembering our blessings or coming up with something to be thankful for. This is more about the feeling you receive. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was out walking one evening taking in the sights of Christmas. What struck me at that moment was the smell of wood burning in a fireplace. I felt love. The warmth of being close to family . . . safe and secure.

It may be worthwhile to remember this and periodically during 2015 to stop for a moment and check into what you receive.

Sorry I can’t get the video to embed. Just click the link and enjoy The Twelve Days of Christmas!!!

These young men are very creative and imaginative in their enactment of the song which was originally created as a parlor game to see who could remember the most things in sequence. As it has been pointed out by those who study the brain, song or rhyme is the easiest way to remember things. There are those who make up words to stand for letters of whatever it is they want to remember. We’ve probably used these techniques over the years.

It may be interesting to see what you and your friends come up with in trying to remember the 12 gifts in this song.

Thanks for stopping by!

Decoupage Santa On A Bottle

I went for a little walk around the neighborhood last night to get a good look at all the light displays. Some were quite elaborate and others a bit subdued from previous years. It may be the economy or people hopefully are realizing that Christmas is not all about the commercial hoop-la. What I really enjoyed was the smell of wood burning in the fireplaces of various homes. Some may argue pollution, but it is an aroma that means family, snuggling up with a cup of hot chocolate watching television or a DVD together. Maybe some popcorn to munch on, too. It’s the family time that is so special and the crafts you make together or bring out year after year.

Yes, I do have a new craft. The picture tells it all.

Santa Decoupage Bottle @Renáta Kocsis Davis

It’s amazing what a bottle and a bit of imagination can do.

I love the vintage Santa’s and the calligraphy of an long ago era.  Add a ribbon and some bling and you have a very impressive  bottle to display.

I  imagine this would work nicely with liter soda bottles, too.  I recommend you go on over to http://thegraphicsfairy.com and print out some vintage Santa’s, Christmas bells and foliage, some old script or music, cut them out, place them to your taste and you’ll have a one-of-a-kind decoupage bottle.
