Oh yes!! I’m giving you these at the last minute with Valentine’s Day being tomorrow, but . . . There are 8 Valentine Cards that you can print out on card stock and have ready for your family and friends.
As you can see, they are from Disney . . . Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas featuring Jack and Sally.
Just click the image to the right for the PDF you can download and print out on card stock.
I’m sure your friends and family would love these uniquely macabre Valentine Cards . . . I think they would go nicely with the Skull Heart Box . . . You’re going to have to scroll down a bit to find the image of the heart box — just click it and you’ll see it is from our old friend Ray O’Bannon of RavensBlight who designed this heart box with spikes for your Valentine’s Day giving pleasure.
I believe if you love Halloween . . . or ghosts . . . and ghost stories, you would love these cards . . . They are different, which would make them stand out from all the others that are handed out for the occasion.
It’s all about having fun and celebrating your interests . . . no matter the time of year.
I’m sorry I didn’t get them to you earlier, but I just found them . . . so, better late than my waiting until next February.
I do love bring the macabre and paranormal into all holiday celebrations.
Maybe a story would be appropriate at this time . . .
We’ve all heard about the poor woman who had been stood-up at the alter on her wedding day . . . maybe instead of a June wedding, it was on Valentine’s Day . . . and she haunts a bridge . . . or a grave yard . . . or a particular patch of road . . . I suppose it could be one of a dozen urban legends.
So, since I said all that, your mind is racing through all the ghost stories and urban legends that fit the above scenario . . . I’m wondering if I have something different . . . maybe not . . . but I’ll try.
It was Valentine’s Day, 2009 — it was on a Saturday . . . a perfect day to go away for a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend . . . or to celebrate with other couples.
Valerie’s parents invited a few couples over to celebrate Valentine’s Day. She and her siblings were supposed to be in bed, asleep, but as children, they like to watch from upstairs . . . . and maybe get a few party snacks one of them sneaks down to collect and share.
The adults moved down into the basement which was set up as a family room. It had an old time jukebox, television and lots of room for dancing, so the children thought it was their chance to sneak downstairs to get some left-over party food.
Valerie and her brother Bob were the eldest, so when they heard loud knocking at the front door, they were the ones who looked out to see who it could possibly be since all the guests had already arrived. Their parents couldn’t hear the knovking from down in the basement with the jukebox playing and the laughter of their guests.
At first they didn’t see anything, but the twins Taylor and Tyler were looking out the living room window and immediately ran upstairs.
Valerie was torn between seeing for herself what was outside and going after the twins to see if they were all right . . . then they saw a man dressed up, wearing a top hat . . . in his hand was a bouquet of dead flowers . . .
No way were they going to open the door. Valerie was tempted to run upstairs as the twins had done earlier, but Bob let the dog out . . . thinking he would chase whoever was at the door. But, the dog came running back in, whimpering . . . Well, if the dog is scared, Valerie and Bob decided they should be, too. They ran upstairs into the twin’s bedroom.
They eventually fell asleep . . . but at exactly 3 AM in the morning they heard the loud banging at the front door . . . Valerie heard it first, then Bob . . . but their parents didn’t hear it. So, Bob and Valerie ventured out to see who was at the door.
The dog stayed behind . . . this should have been a warning to Valerie and Bob . . . on the dining room table was the top hat . . . and the bouquet of dead flowers . . . Oh no!! Was he now in the house?
Both children ran up the stairs . . . into the twin’s room . . .
They eventually went back to sleep.
Later that morning, there heard a scream coming from downstairs . . .
They found their mother in their father’s arms crying.
As it turned out, there was a great-great-aunt who was to be married on Valentine’s Day in that very house — owned by Valerie’s great-great-great grandparents. The groom never showed up. He was killed on his way to the wedding.
That was a sad tale . . . but true. One never knows when loved ones come to remind you they are still around . . . In this case, the groom had finally arrived . . .
I’m at the point where I believe just about anything is possible.
Have you heard about The Butterfly Effect?
I think this may go along with time travel . . . but, then, it may be applied to other things as well.
Basically, it’s about making one little change . . . and there could be major consequences.
There are at least 3 films that address this theory . . . I’ve seen the first one and the third . . . don’t know how I missed the second . . . but since I already saw the third I don’t think the second one matters at this point.
Well, getting back to Time Travel . . . would you want to travel back in time?
In theory I think I would, but getting in some contraption or wiring up myself to do it . . . I don’t know.
Then there’s the issue of explaining who you are . . . especially if you want to meet grandparents or even parents who passed before you were born or were too young to know them.
Would this “meeting” alter time when you return?
I would image that would be enough of a change . . . and how would I get to sit down and talk with them . . . would they tell me about themselves . . . I’m a total stranger? Could I spend several days there? Where would I stay? How would I be able to make contact?
And, more importantly, what would be the consequence(s), if any? And how would I fit into those changes?
It is a fascinating concept . . . but, if we could all do it. there would definitely be chaos . . . Possibly not intentionally . . .and perhaps intentionally . . .
I’m sure we’ve all wondered from time to time what it would be like, if only we did something else . . . it could involve a job, a date, or attending some event rather than doing something else.
I’m not complaining about my life, but I may have wanted to know other family members better . . . The problem is that we live life forwards . . . but we understand it backwards . . . So I do see missed opportunities . . . and things I’ve done that now seem foolish . . . I can say that’s part of growing up and the value of learning from our mistakes . . . But, what if?
That’s always the issue and what authors write about all the time in novels and for the silver screen.
I’m of the belief, until I receive more information, that time travel for me is not an option. Yet, I’ll continue wondering and thinking “what if?”
I hope this got you thinking about time travel and the butterfly effect. I’d like to hear your thoughts on the subject.
I’m sure you remember Ray Keim from Haunted Dimensions.
He’s a master artist and creates impressive paper craft 3-D buildings you can print out and assemble.
His newest one gives me chills just thinking about it. That’s why I’m telling you about it . . . or I’ll do a warning . . . Halloween . . . Mike Myers . . . The Halloween Movies . . . Murders . . . Well, Ray has a new model entitled Haddonfield 78 . . . That the house . . . his house . . .
It doesn’t look all that creepy . . . but the movies . . . those images . . . the story . . . yes, it is definitely the story . . .
Just click the image and you’ll be taken to the PDF on Ray’s Haunted Dimensions website. It would be nice of you to give a generous donation to him in appreciation of all the great paper craft printables he has created for our crafting pleasure. And to give us chills and that spooky feeling of being watched . . .
It would be a nice addition to your collection of Haunted Dimensions paper crafts. As for me, I’ll pass on this one . . . it really gives me an uncomfortable feeling.
I hope you enjoy this paper craft or others on Ray’s website. I really like Phantom Manor with the double staircase to the front porch. It is an attractive manor that will take quite some time to build . . . but it is definitely worth it. And with school starting back sooner than we may like, there’s The Skoolhouse along with lots of other places you may enjoy exploring.
She would host these movies that were awful . . . but we watched . . . just to get her take on it . . . and to laugh.
It was something for the whole family . . . or for friends . . .
I would think that just about everyone was watching . . .
It was back in the 1980’s, if I recall correctly . . .And she became an almost overnight sensation. It was a local Los Angeles gig for Elvira . . . a.k.a. Cassandra Peterson. She hosted a B-rated horror film show.
She created her look and character with the plunging neck line, vampiress persona and double entendre humor. Her family owned a costume shop . . . and this is where young Cassandra had a ball dawning different costumes for Halloween.
She’s also a saavy businesswoman who has kept her brand going for at least three decades . . . She started this gig when she was 30 and is now in her 60’s . . . looking great as ever . . .
She still makes public appearances around Halloween . . . with fans young and old . . . flocking to see her . . .
It’s truly heartwarming to know of someone who found her niche and ran with it all the way to the bank!
I love success stories!
Who would have thought that hosting dumb horror movies would make someone famous . . . and rich . . . ?
There may have a been a bit of luck initially, but Cassandra Peterson had to give it that entertaining quality that kept us all returning week after week. It wasn’t the movie she hosted . . . it was Elvira . . . what was she going to say?
If you missed out on the real deal back in the 80’s . . . you can get aquainted with the Mistress of the Dark through her DVD’s and books . . .
Just click one of the links above and you’ll find more than you’ve ever known was available about this icon . . . and you can also get an Elvia costume for Halloween . . . or lounging around the house . . .
I do love reaching back into the past . . . and finding treasures . . .
Wouldn’t it be lovely to create easy 3-D Haunted Houses?
These would look lovely on a mantle or in a bookcase . . . with those battery operated tea lights to shine through the windows . . . yes, you will have to cut out the windows . . .
Ray O’Bannon has a nice collection of Mini Haunted Houses that you’ll be able to put together quickly and easily . . . He has two sets that would make a lovely display for your next evening of telling ghost stories with family and friends.
You may even enjoy putting these together with them . . . one of these houses may remind them of an old house in their old neighborhood . . . or on the outskirts of town . . .
I remember some houses that were built . . . and the project abandoned due to lack of funds . . . it gave me an eerie feeling . . . like I was in the Twilight Zone . . . I could image aliens visiting the place . . . No way would I live out there . . . they couldn’t give me the house . . . yes, it was that creepy . . . and I was seeing it in the day time . . . whoa . . . what would it have been like at night . . . maybe strange creatures would have been roaming around . . .
I don’t know whatever became of that abandoned construction site . . . maybe it has been built up . . . and people are living there . . . It may be a lovely neighborhood . . . or creepy . . .
Just click the images and you’ll be set to print out these mini houses . . . You can decorate them . . . they do look rather unfriendly . . . even the bats and ravens aren’t around. All you need is a graveyard . . . or some headstones . . . with lights and the right sound track, you could scare the wits out of your guests . . . add to that the recollection of every scary movie, book and personal experience you’ve had and you’ll be hiding under the covers . . .
It’s easy to creep yourself out . . . and I think these mini houses would do the trick . . .
I remember reading a story about a man who had a huge house and his relatives thought it was the best place to go for a vacation, because he had plenty of room . . .
He didn’t like the idea and they didn’t take the hint that they weren’t welcome . . . so he got some workmen together to change the windows and the railing to look like a scary jack-o-lantern so when his relatives drove up to the place from a distance at night it may scare them away.
Well, it didn’t happen . . . because the relatives thought the old man who built the house had some hidden treasure inside . . . someplace . . . and year after year, those relatives would come and search . . .
I think it was fiction . . . but you never know . . . it could have been based on factual events, but the author didn’t want to get sued by the greedy relatives . . .
But, these mini houses and my true account of the abandoned housing development brings chills running down my spine . . . I could have that creepy place sitting on my coffee table . . .
Or, more importantly, you can have it right in the privacy of your very own house . . . you may not need all of the houses . . . just pick your favorite and see how you feel about it . . . maybe add some embellishments . . . or creepy creatures . . . maybe add a hearse or grave stones . . . maybe put something scary in the window . . .
We honestly don’t know what’s sneaking around in the dark after we close our blinds and are settled in for the night . . . My neighborhood gets a bit creepy . . . so silent . . . We have very dim street lights . . . they cast very little light or shadow, but whatever it does doesn’t invite you to take a midnight stroll . . .
It is a nice setting for Halloween trick-or-treats . . . but when the children are gone and the porch lights go out . . . the quiet is deafening . . .
Yes, these mini houses could bring out that feeling of desolation, isolation . . . something watching . . . waiting . . . watching and waiting . . .
Well, have fun with these houses . . . make a set or two . . . or just a couple of them . . . I know, you’ll eventually make them all . . .
