Wishtree by Katherine Applegate

I thought since the weather is what it is, this is excellent reading weather for young and old.

Wishtree by Katherine Applegate is about a neighborhood Wish Tree.

Neighborhood residents would write out their wishes on paper, rags, even socks and gently tie them to Red’s branches.

The Wishtree is for ages 8 to 12 years or grades 3 to 6. I found it fun with many subtle lessons. It is a heartfelt tale that younger children may enjoy hearing.

I believe it is a must read on a cold gloomy day.

You can purchase it in many formats: Kindle, Hardcover or as an Audiobook.

The following books may be of interest as well:

I could go on and on and on, but this is a good place to stop. It is best for you to explore the books your children would enjoy. Just click any of the pictures and you can shop to your hearts content.

Yeti In My Spaghetti Product Review

I love board games, card games and this dexterity game similar to pick-up sticks, but much more fun!!

I love games that include the young children and is fun to watch as well as play.

This game teaches sportsmanship. It is obvious that when a player dumps the Yeti into the bowl that the game ends. That player loses, but it is so much fun up to that point that everyone just plays another round.

Yeti In My Spaghetti was designed for 2 or more players 4 years and up.

The game includes:

  • a Bowl
  • a Yeti
  • 30 Noodles
  • Game Rules

This makes for a great gift for holidays, birthdays and to put in your family game night rotation.

Yeti In My Spaghetti is a fun game kids of all ages enjoy!!

Kindle 6″ E-Reader Essentials Bundle

Do you have a Kindle?

If not, its time to did . . . and you might as well get one for the whole family.

This is definitely a gift that keeps on giving. I love mine and have explored more books than I initially thought I would. It’s great for kids, too.

It’s never too early to get everyone reading and exploring the various genres of books. I love the idea that I can purchase a book and have it on my Kindle immediately. This is so cool.

Click the link to the right to be taken to the page that can explain the Kindle 6″ E-Reader so much better than I can . . . but it has audio, too. Great for when you want to listen to a book rather than read it for yourself. I love this feature when I’m busy fixing dinner or relaxing in the evening.

Things Going Bump In The Morning

I just finished writing a ghost story on my website OldHauntedStuff.comĀ  when I jumped out of my skin when I heard a loud “bump” . . .

It is interesting how I get involved with what I’m writing — in this case it was writing about an experience that happened quite some time ago that someone had shared with me.

I had just posted it and was coming here to add something interesting . . . but I guess it was still on my mind so when I heard a loud thump — probably from a neighbor putting out their various trash barrels . . . I was startled to say the least.

Early this morning around 6 o’clock I put my barrels out and when the neighbor’s sprinkler sputtered to life, I jumped . . . so I guess it may have nothing to do with the ghost story and more to do with me being a bit jumpy this morning.

Maybe today I should do something light and fun . . .

NEW Schmovie: The Hilarious Game of Made-Up Movies for ages 8 years and up.

I do like this family game which allows you to be creative.

No movie trivia required. It is just a game where you roll the genre die and flip over two premise cards to discover what the Schmovie is about.

This game can be played by individuals or groups. It’s fun for all ages and would be excellent for the upcoming holidays.

The object of the game is to collect the most trophies for coming up with the best movie title. It’s a fun game that will keep you laughing.

Although Schmovie is great fun, it doesn’t hurt to have some other games to play, too:

Here are some games you may enjoy or click one of the links above and explore other possibilities.

Do You Like Open-Ended Movies?

When I invest my time in watching a movie I like to have it come to a conclusion.

Too often I’ve been watching movies on Amazon Prime and I have been left hanging.

I do find it a bit frustrating to get involved with the characters and the story, then left wondering . . . In many situations it may be good, but in most I do like to see how things work out for all concerned.

Now, not all of these movies on Amazon Prime are opened-ended, it just seems some of those I selected lately have been.

If you haven’t checked out Amazon Prime, I think this is a wonderful time to do so. Besides movies, there is music and the big game changer for me was FREE second day delivery of my orders. No more shipping fees is a true money saver.

There is always a 30-day Free Trial you can do to see if it would be worthwhile for you and your family.

It is only $99. per year!!

I have a banner in the footer that will take you right where you can sign up and get started. This is a wonderful value.

There is so very much Amazon Prime has to offer. It is worthwhile for you to check it out.

I enjoy the movies. This is an excellent way for me to watch movies and series without having to buy the DVDs.

I did surprise myself when I bought my Kindle. I always liked a book to grab and read, but now, I love my Kindle without the mess of having a bunch of books around wondering where to put them. The same is true for the movies and music. It is always nice to have a collection of favorites to share with family and friends, but this is an excellent way to preview before purchasing.

Another big surprise I got was that Amazon’s Halloween Shop is now open!!!

Yes, it is definitely time to get thinking about your costume, getting goodies for your party and having your trick-or-treat candy on hand.

Here are some links you may find helpful:

Traditional movie collections and some nice goodie bags to fill with delicious treats. I didn’t even know where to begin for Halloween costumes for the whole family — you do need to take a look and get them now as supplies last. Maybe they will give you some ideas for the theme of your party.

I do hope this was helpful and you’ll consider signing up for Amazon Prime.
