Paper Girls — Amazon Original Series

Wow! This Amazon Original Series is Science Fiction, Adventure, Fantasy, Action, Suspense, Horror and Drama all rolled into one fantastic series. I’ve watched the first episode and I’m hooked.

There are four girls with different backgrounds all coming together the day after Halloween known as Hell Day . . . They are paper girls — delivering the morning paper — It is first set in 1988 and they time travel to 2019 . . . 

I’m not into giving spoilers — I want you to watch it and enjoy it for yourself.

All that I can say is the 2019 depicted in this series has elements I’m pleased were not part of my personal reality . . . This is a gripping tale that has you sitting on the edge of your seat.

I do like putting myself in the action and thinking about how I would deal with the situation . . . The concept of time travel is something I’m intrigued by, but don’t necessarily want to experience.

I highly recommend that you check this series out and see how it resonates with you.

The first season of this series has 8 episodes. As with other Amazon Prime Series, I am always wanting more . . . So I do hope there is more to come in the future . . .

This seems like an unlikely group of girls who would be friends. Yet they all have one thing in common — paper routes . . . And then the strange experience of some sort of invasion — They decide to stick together . . . Then they are on a quest to return back to 1988 . . .

It is interesting for them to see what 31 years in the future brings . . . And then again 21 years . . . This does make me wonder what my goals and dreams were about my future when I was 12 years old. Did I really think about the future and what work I would be doing? My concern was probably focused on getting through my school work . . . I was very much a nerd.

Lazy Days Of Summer

This Summer Season Has Been Busy And Much Too Warm . . .

Actually, it was downright HOT! Usually I don’t mind it with air conditioning . . . but when it goes out, life can be quite uncomfortable and miserable.

I did buy a new heating and air conditioning unit — my other one was old and pretty much beyond repair. I had 10 days of waiting for the new unit to be installed . . .

Fifteen day after the new unit was installed . . . it went out . . . Something that should last 15 to 20 years stopped working after only 15 days. Obviously, this was unacceptable . . .

The company did make it right . . . but I suffered through too many hours of sweating which wasn’t my idea of enjoying my major investment . . . or the relaxing, lazy days of summer . . .

The Purpose Of This Post Was Not To Bore You With The Chaos In My Life . . .

I was more concerned about the concept of summer — my least favorite season mainly because of the weather. I’m not into the hot sticky weather. I’m more comfortable with temperatures in the 70 + degrees . . . And usually about this time I’m yearning for fall/autumn my absolute favorite season.

But summer does have its perks — many people go on vacation or read good books or watch movies . . . just relax and enjoy the fair weather. There are bar-b-ques and outdoor dining — I like sitting on my patio and even on my front porch with a nice cup of coffee or a cold glass of iced tea. 

Sitting Under A Tree Or On A Tree Swing Is Relaxing

Is it possible that we never outgrow a swing — a tree swing or one we remember from our childhood at home or school or a playground or park?

I think a swing is nice — you can just sit or move slowly or get into it and reach for the sky . . . We make it work by pumping our legs . . . and maybe with a little push by a friend . . . A swing and summer seem to go together in my mind . . .

A tree swing is very appealing to me because you get the shade of the tree overhead . . . With a slight breeze, you can hear the rustling of the leaves — makes me think of fall . . . It is relaxing and very calming . . . You can allow your imagination to bring all kinds of wonderful images to mind . . . Remember . . . your precious memories . . . stories you’ve read or heard . . . being creative and making up a story of your own or poetry — remembering a poem or writing one while you’re relaxed and swaying to a rhythm of your own . . . 

I’m thinking of ice cream — a yummy ice cream cone . . . Making something cooling and refreshing.

Thinking About “Clue”

Retro Series Clue 1986 Edition Board Game

When I was a kid, summertime meant getting all the neighborhood kids together in the afternoon to meet on the front porch with their favorite board game. I guess our front porch was the largest or the most centrally located for our house to be so designated “board game central” . . . That worked out fine, I was never late to a game 🙂

Years later, in my adult years, I had friends who loved board games and we would get together to play one of their favorites. And one that was front and center quite a bit was none other than Clue. I guess we fancied ourselves as detectives or just liked the idea of figuring out “whodunit”. Win or lose, it was always fun.

Clue — The Movie

The board game was campy and rediculous at times . . . Then there was The Movie . . . It really brought the whole concept to life and I don’t know anyone who didn’t love it.

I’m sure you’ve seen it or heard about it . . . if not, you’re in for a fun evening with friends . . . And pick up the game, too.

Once you’ve seen the movie . . . or played the game, you’ll want to get to know the characters a bit better . . . I know people who relate to the different characters as their alter-ego . . . I know I do have some strange friends.
