Not Feeling Safe

This real ghost story hits home a bit with me and you may also be able to relate.

Sophie bought her first home after working for 15 years at her job.

The sad thing was that the room she selected for her home office felt uncomfortable and actually scared her.

I know this does sound strange, but I have a room in my home that feels uncomfortable at times. I feel as though I’m being watched. And . . . as it turned out, back in the late 1960’s a young man overdosed in that bedroom. He didn’t actually die there . . . well maybe, but the paramedics revived him and he later died in the hospital.

But . . . this isn’t my story, but Sophie’s.

As far as she knows, no one died in her house, but there was an elderly couple who lived there since the house was built and they lived out their lives in an assisted living facility. Thus the reason they sold the house to Sophie.

But something was definitely wrong. She would hear whispering voices, footsteps, smell food cooking and doors and cupboards would open and close at various times throughout the day and night.

She felt as thought the house didn’t want her there.

Even when she would leave the house to get her mail or water the flower beds or even sweep off the front porch, the door would be locked when she would return to go inside.

Fortunately, she hid a key outside and later carried a key with her whenever she went outside . . . but the whispering persisted, plus objects and even furniture would be moved around.

While all of this was going on, the elderly couple were alive and well in their assisted living accommodations. So, the previous owners were not haunting the house.

Sophie contacted a psychic to get to the bottom of this.

Evidently there was another house built on the property decades earlier and the residents of that former home were haunting her. The elderly couple were not bothered by them — either they were unaware of them or these spirits didn’t bother them and in turn didn’t bother the spirits.

So, why was Sophie so lucky to get their attention?

According to the psychic, Sophie was sensitive to them . . . and their vibrations or energy were at odds with each other . . . thus causing conflict . . .

And, if you want my two cents, they didn’t like Sophie and were going to make it uncomfortable for her.

But . . . as it turned out, the psychic helped the spirits crossover, thus leaving Sophie alone . . . but she still didn’t feel safe in her home and sold her house and bought another one where she had no paranormal experiences.

In a way I don’t blame Sophie for moving on . . . at least she made the house safe for the new buyers, but one never knows what ghostly spirits are hanging out with us.

Change Is In The Wind

As usual, I’m thinking of changing the “look” of TwoCansOnAString.com

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, you may have noticed some subtle changes from time to time — with the usual result of my changing everything back.

I’ve had this domain name since 2012 and during this 6 year period I’ve made some changes — some good, some not so good . . . So, I’ve been doing some serious thinking . . . and not wanting to go too far out on a limb, but to make some major improvements . . . Which could make or break this website.

Lately, I’ve been having difficulty adding content . . .

I’m going back to my childhood and using two cans on a string . . .

When we lived in San Diego, California Dorothy and I had a hedge dividing our front yards. It was no big deal, we could walk along the sidewalk to get to each other’s house . . . but it was fun to sit in next to the hedge with our two cans on a string and talk back and forth . . . Yes, we were actually talking through the hedge, but having the cans placed as they were, we pretended to have our own private communication system.

We talked about school, the books and comics we’ve read . . . what we had for dinner . . . our favorite foods . . . holidays, vacations, just about everything kids talked about . . .

This got me thinking of this website and what you’re talking about and what interests you the most . . .

And I got thinking of what rules my life . . . grocery shopping and recipes and having something different to eat . . . food is a major big deal in our lives and for special occasions . . .

I thought about how I’ve neglected recipes for quite some time . . . But we gotta eat!!!

But writing out recipes is boring . . . I do have fun with them, but they do take time and I’m not really into it . . . but I’d like to be . . . I’m finding I’m kind of in a rut with my eating and food selection . . . So . . . I’ve had this brainstorm which gets me revamping my website once again . . .

I’ve always wanted to organize my recipes. Have all my S’Mores recipes where I can find them easily . . . and the number of Christmas Cookie recipes I can have for Cookie Exchanges . . . which could take place at any time of year.

And the different types of snack foods . . . We always need snack food . . .

This got me thinking of different categories of food . . .

I’m leaning in this direction . . . but nothing is going to be done until I truly decide what would be best for this website and get some feedback from you.

I do have research to do and much to learn regarding building websites and making them work best.

There are lots of resources available . . . and I’m thinking of trying out a few things for this website and the two other ones I have. And my experimental site will be a domain name I’m not currently using. I’m finding it best to do that than mess up my existing websites.

Your thoughts are most welcome.

It’s Friday the 13th!!

Wow!! Friday the 13th!! I’m sure you know where I’m going with this . . .

Last night was quite windy here. I had some strange thoughts . . . and then I realized the date!!

I’ve been watching YouTube Videos about haunted places and abandoned places — they were quite creepy and sometimes disappointing . . . So I usually turn to Amazon, I love their Prime Videos.

And, if I’m too late for you to get these, maybe a nice book or two would be to your liking:

With your Kindle, you can get your titles instantly. This is so cool!!

Or maybe you would prefer something lighter and a bit more fun for your Friday the 13th entertainment:

Well . . . that’s still creepy . . . I wonder what would work. Perhaps click one of the links above and your personal shopping of movies and Kindle Books. I’m sure you will find something of interest.

Say Good-bye To 2017

There is usually excitement and celebration when ringing in the New Year and kicking the old one to the curb.

Each year does have its moments to celebrate . . . but for some reason we’re always looking forward to something new with hope and promise of better things.

I’m not so sure what would be better for me . . . I’m not into New Year Resolutions . . . I prefer to be as positive as possible and attract as much goodness as feasible flowing to me. I don’t know the form it will take . . . And I must realize that something not so good can become a definite blessing. So, don’t judge too quickly or too harshly when something discouraging or disappointing falls in your life.

A few years ago I was chatting with one of my neighbors who said, “this can be a learning opportunity.”

I don’t remember the context of our discussion, but that phrase stood out for me and I tucked it away to ponder at some other time.

This simple statement seemed to be a sort of prophesy for me. Just about everyday something would bring that phrase to mind. A learning opportunity — how can this be?

I suppose every day we can learn something new . . . But I don’t think this was the purpose. It seemed more personal. I thought instead of grumbling about something, I could view it as an opportunity to learn something.

So, when my air conditioner went out on the hottest day possible and a Friday night to boot . . . How can this be a learning opportunity?

For one thing I knew who to call . . . I opened up the windows and sliders to air out the house . . . It seemed that quite a few people in town had the same issue of no air conditioning which meant I may have quite a wait before a repair could be made.

I tried different techniques to make my little dog and me as comfortable as possible.

I stopped thinking about how miserable we were and focused on our many blessings . . . we were on the repair list . . . we had fans . . . ice . . . cold water . . .

I stopped grumbling and began to feel a bit more comfortable, just by thinking more positively about what I did have and what I could do.

Then the call came telling me a repairman would be arriving in the next 20 minutes.

That was great and wonderful!! Twenty minutes plus the repair time . . . Hoooraaaayyyyyyy!!!

So, the lesson was to lighten up and be grateful . . . No good came to grumbling . . .

The reason I was bumped up was because some unfortunately person had to wait a couple of days for a part to come in . . . It did not feel good that my good fortune was due to someone else’s misfortune. This wasn’t anything I would wish for anyone else. I would hope no one would have air conditioning problems on hot hot hot summer days.

Well, from previous “learning opportunities” I’ll continue with those lessons and apply them to 2018 and all the new years to come.

Happy New Year!!

Put On Your Dancing Shoes

I just love modern technology!!

When I found these rhythm shoes, I couldn’t stop laughing!!

They’re great!! It’s like in the old days when there were dance lessons kits where you set the shoe patterns on the floor and would step on them to music.

Well, this has the dance steps in the shoes!!

You can learn many different dance styles, too. It is truly amazing!

You may want to see it for yourself and I have a great video to share with you. No, I’m not dancing, but I can relate to having two left feet and looking awkward.

What do you think?

I have no idea where to buy them or at what price, but I’m sure in time they will be all the rage and you’ll know about them first!! Because you saw it here at TwoCansOnAString.com!!!

I know I need to be careful not to break my arm from patting myself on the back 🙂

It’s always fun to find something new and cutting edge that could be the next hot item on your Christmas shopping list. It’s never too early to plan ahead. And think about those summer weddings you’ll be invited to . . . or just social gatherings. Dancing often times is at play and you won’t want to be a wallflower, now would you.

These “rhythm shoes” may make a positive difference in your life.

I hope this blog post was informative for you.

Thank you for stopping by!
