When Mr. Boddy is murdered, the game begins in earnest. This underrated gem has faced unwarranted criticism. It is a delightful, farcical homage to a beloved childhood board game, with an ensemble cast where no one overshadows the rest. The actors chosen for each major role were perfect for their characters, bringing their distinctive personas to life. Tim Curry, Madeleine Kahn, Eileen Brennan, Lesley Ann Warren, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Michael McKean, and Colleen Camp brilliantly portray the colorful Clue characters of Wadsworth the butler, Mrs. White, Mrs. Peacock, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, and Yvette the maid. 

 

Lee Ving, as Mr. Boddy, may not have been the strongest choice, but he still delivers a serviceable performance. The supporting cast members, though brief, leave a lasting impression, with Howard Hesseman standing out.

The set is beautiful and mysterious, the costumes solid, and the story fun yet light. Set in the perfect time period, this film successfully captures the essence of an old-fashioned slapstick comedy. It is a great choice for those seeking simple entertainment without pretension or sophistication. Clue is a visually pleasing, effortlessly enjoyable movie.

Life Can Present Us With Many Different Twists And Turns

For many of us it could be a very straightforward solution — call the authorities about the body David found in his yard.

As for the money . . . tempting as it may be to keep it, it doesn’t belong to him and could be the reason the dead guy was buried in the yard.

Without giving spoilers — David has a lot on his plate with his job and the mortage on his new place, plus the medication for his daughter . . . His focus needs to be on getting his job promotion and not the issues involved with what he found in the yard.

It wouldn’t be much of a story, if David called the authorities and they took care of the body and the money and he continued on with his landscaping and septic tank projects . . . Or there could be a different turn . . . That’s what is so great about movies — they present one story and we can think of other ways things might have gone . . .

I Wasn’t Sure What To Expect . . . 

I usually like “coming home” movies, but this one has revenge attached to it. I’m all for the nostalgia of endeavoring to recapture the past and to get to the truth . . . but revenge may be going a bit too far for me.

The movie is quite slow. I did expect to learn more than had been revealed after the first hour into the movie. Just seemed to have more unanswered questions . . . Plus being watched .  . and followed . . . What secrets and who wants to keep them secret?

I have to say that Awakened was quite a disappointment. 

I seriously would not waste my time watching. The trailer and the image were all quite misleading for what one actually sees in this movie. There was a lot of hype which did not deliver!

I think this movie is worth your time watching. I did enjoy it and watched it to the end. I have to admit I couldn’t look at Katie towards the end . . . I pretty much wanted to be done with her and her lies.

Our minds are quite amazing — a group of people can experience the same event and each one will have a different take on it — could be due to one’s physical placement or other factors could be involved. And then there are the times when people are brainwashed to believe something they otherwise would not.

Unraveling incidents to get a clear picture of what actually happened is a process — plus dealing with the truths revealed . . . and then it comes to not questioning those memories . . . But the mind does have the tendency to protect . . . And then, we justify our choices and decisions . . . Life seems quite complicated. We may know what we know and there is a right and wrong to it — as well as the legal side of things. How things play out . . . and what we do is an issue . . . 

This was a good movie. It makes you think about what you would do or would have done given the circumstances of Anne’s life. I know for one thing, I would be unable to continue living where the tragic event happened — I would probably replay the event over and over and over again from time to time. No telling what would trigger the memory . . . Watch the movie and decide for yourself!
