Centerpiece Witch’s Hat

I’m all into fall decorating and this witch hat is an excellent place to begin.WitchHat

You can check out any left over items from last fall that would be excellent to decorate this hat for your table.

I love the rustic natural feel of the decorations. I have some small plastic cauldrons I’d add plus maybe a frog and a black cat.

It may be a good idea to put batting or tissue paper inside the witch’s hat to keep it standing up. The stars are a nice touch.

I’m sure you have dozens of ideas and items you could use to decorate your witch hat and proudly display along with the party food.

This hat truly needs a party!!

I’ll try to attach a witch’s broom to the display to let your guests know the witch is home for the night.

Have fun!!!

Whimsical Pumpkin Planters

Here’s a great Fall project that will get a whole lot of attention when you put it in your front yard.

I like starting the season with fun projects. It’s excellent to be able to make these plastic pumpkin planters and fill them with flowers or herbs. These do have personality.Tipsy-Pumpkins

Basically, what you see is what it is and how to make it. I can give you some basic tips, but you may already have an idea of how you’d like to create your own DIY project.

As I said, these are plastic pumpkins. You can make the face you want on them and drill a hole in the bottom of each pumpkin for drainage.

To keep these beauties in place, you’ll first need to put a long stick into your planter pumpkin pot and one-by-one decide how the pumpkins are going to be stacked, allowing plenty of room for the flowers or herbs to grow and be beautiful. You will be doing a lot of drilling holes in your plastic pumpkins to get their placement just right on the stick or stake.

I was thinking this would be fun to set up, on a smaller scale, for a party centerpiece for your table minus the dirt in the planter pumpkin pot. There are plenty of variations you can do with this great idea.

For indoors you could use twist ties to attach the pumpkins to the stick and have them for your guests to take home with goodies packed inside. You could even add names on the back of them.

I do like this idea for the yard, but it’s always fun to come up with variations for indoors as well. I’m sure you’ve come up with a few ideas of your own.

As with all DIY projects, have fun and allow your imagination to soar.

Thanks for stopping by and please leave me a comment with your thoughts about this project and what variations you’ve dreamed up.

Fall Candle Jars

It wonderful to get into fall and all the projects you can do to decorate your home.

These fall candle jars are easy to make and fun to use.fallcandleholder

You can use any jars you’ve saved or use mason jars. You’ll need Mod Podge and fake leaves. I like the fake fall leaves because they absorb the Mod Podge.

You apply the leaves to the outside of the jar and add a rafia ribbon to give it that finished look.

I started this project in the center and brushed Mod Podge to the outside center of the jar. Then I positioned a leaf and brushed Mod Podge over it. I overlapped the leaves. Be sure to have Mod Podge on both sides of the leaves.

This is a fun project the kids may enjoy, too.

You can use a tea candle inside the jar or an electric candle light. The light should glow through the leaves. I don’t cover every inch of the jar. I like having some of the glass showing. Make your however you like.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you found this fall candle jar interesting enough to make.

New Twist On Decorating Pumpkins

Yes, yes, I know it’s August, but you can never begin too early with your Halloween decorating ideas.

PumpkinDecorating

Goodness!! You can go creepy, funny or cute; scary, disgusting or thought provoking.

I think if I went to so much work decorating a pumpkin I would go with an artificial pumpkin that I could pack away and bring out year after year. And as long as you’re at a craft store, you might as well take a good look around for various elements you may want to set on top of your pumpkin.

This idea is definitely something you may want to keep in mind while you’re shopping. You never know what may catch your eye.

And be sure to shop for bargains. I’m usually not one to go to the dollar bargain bins, but I’ve found some real treasures that no one else wanted and it was perfect for one of my holiday projects.

Sometimes it’s nice to have something in mind, but it can be quite refreshing to throw caution to the wind and collect things to your heart’s content and see what great creation materializes for you.

You can also use some of the free printables I’ve posted here. A pumpkin may be just the right setting. Take a look in the archives. I have a collection of houses, boxes and wreaths, cakes and cupcakes — everything can be fashioned in other media to put on top of your pumpkin decoration.

Have fun and leave me a comment below.

The Skoolhouse — Free Ray Keim Paper Craft

With the onset of “Back to School” it seems fitting to present Ray Keim’s Haunted Dimensions Skoolhouseskool_01

I love these paper crafts! I’ve made several of them and created my own Haunted Display — Not just for Halloween, but all year round.

Just click the image and you’ll be taken to the PDF.

This old schoolhouse has seen better days . . . maybe it’s a good idea for it to look as though it’s falling down to keep children and adults away. Now, it seems this schoolhouse has a horrifying history . . . according to legend . . . children started disappearing . . . their remains have never been found, but it was believed that Jack the Janitor abducted the children and took them down to the basement which served as Jack’s “office” . . .

It’s these children that were murdered down in the school’s basement that are believed to haunt the old skoolhouse . . . but there are many legends . . . of many school houses throughout the United States and beyond.

I like this Skoolhouse, not because of the many legends, but because it is a place we’re all familiar with . . . school . . . and many don’t have fond memories of their school days . . . and many do . . . and many have mixed feelings . . . but all schools were a bit spooky after hours when it was empty . . . or we thought it was empty . . .

Enjoy your Skoolhouse . . . it will be a welcome addition to your haunted display this Halloween . . .

Ray Keim’s Colonial Theater Paper Craft

Ray Keim of Haunted Dimensions has a wonderful selection of quality paper crafts you can make for your personal Halloween display.BLOB-ColonialTheater

They take me awhile to put together, so I’m giving you plenty of time . . . you may want to make several of them. They are very well done and will be great to make and give to friends and family.

“The Blog” is a classic scifi movie made in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s set in The Colonial Theater — according to the movie, a meteorite hit the earth in 1958 and within this rock was an oozing mass that fed on the people who flocked to The Colonial for a Midnight Spook Show one hot summer evening lured by the Air Conditioning . . . back then houses didn’t have air conditioning, so this was a major attraction.

Have fun making The Colonial Theater and The Blob.
