Peripheral 2019 Movie

I Love Movies About Writers — This One Has To Do With Editing Software . . .

It does make one wonder about the power of artificial intelligence — with our computers and smartphones and other smart appliances . . . We may be living in our own science fiction creation . . .

I know I’m very much into all the modern technology, especially when it comes to building websites and adding content to them. I am in the process of making some major changes to this website . . . but it is a process that may take a bit of time.

Fortunately, I’m not on a timeline as the character in this movie Bobbie Johnson is to complete her novel. Nor am I being controlled by technology. It all comes down to the choices we make. A theme that seems to be running through many of the movies I’ve been watching.

Over the years there have been several movies with the theme of man versus machine — computers in particular. We have these devices to make our lives easier — The question comes down to whether we’re making these decisions for ourselves or being manipulated into making them . . .

These messages come to life during the viewing of this movie — choosing to believe what others say or what one knows to be true . . .

It is strange how my laptop started acting up during the writing of this post. I did lose some content, but that is the least of my concerns. I can always recreate what I originally created — sometimes it does come out differently, and maybe not as good . . . but it does get done . . . It was just a strange occurance . . .

Are we more relevant by the words we write or how we write the words?

That seems to be another theme running through this movie . . . And since I’m not into spoilers . . . I do have to wonder how much of what Bobbie believed was happening to her physically was true or . . . something else . . .

I Believe A Sign Of A Good Movie Is One That Makes You Think About It After The Final Credits Have Run . . .

The Peripheral Is An Amazon Original Series With New Episodes Every Friday . . . I’ll Be Reviewing This In An Upcoming Post . . . So Basically, I Came Across The 2019 Movie Of Peripheral Completely By Accident . . . However, A Very Happy One

I do find it interesting how movies can have similar titles and be completely unrelated . . . Or are they?

This Peripheral is about a writer and getting forced into the modern age of technology . . . The Series is about Computer Games — A very sophisticated software . . . hummmmm

Of the few episodes of the series I’ve viewed so far, I see no other similarities between the two . . . But I would recommend you watching for this series . . . If you’re into computer games . . . and even if you’re not . . .

I did like the ending of Peripheral. I felt Bobbie was put in a tight spot . . . plus being manipulated by her own addiction and her own desire . . . This is a spoiler alert!!! Her desire wins — in my estimation and conclusion . . . You may see it entirely differently.

Another spoiler alert is when she has a meeting with her favorite author and their discussion of Shakespear . . . I found it quite enlightening.

Just Finished Watching Saving Grace On Amazon Prime Video

Many Of You May Like To Watch What Is New And Current, But I Appreciate Some Of The Older Series I Missed When They Were First Aired . . .

I may have been busy with other stuff . . . or just not interested in it at the time. Or I may have just missed out on it. That’s what is so wonderful about Amazon Prime Video. It allows me to see what I missed.

Saving Grace came out in 2007, starring Holly Hunter who plays an Oklahoma City Police Detective Grace Hanadarko.

I was impressed by how the main character was very much a free spirit and throughout the series you learn more and more of her backstory. It unfolds quite naturally . . . And, of course, the ending of the series is something to experience . . .

I’m not into giving spoilers. I hope I don’t ruin this series for you. I did enjoy it and what I especially like is that with Amazon Prime Video you can binge-watch this series. You don’t have to wait week after week or for an upcoming season. All 4 seasons are available here and now.

This Series Does Have A Religious Element To It With An Angel Reference . . . Well Actually Theme To It . . .

I’m Always Impressed By Free Spirits — Basically, I Want To Know Why?

I am impressed by how gutsy Grace Hannadarko is in both her professional and personal life. She seems confident and also capable of taking care of herself . . . yet I wonder if she’s aware of the risks she takes . . . or just accepts them as how things are . . .

In life, we accept certain things in our lives . . . maybe it has to do with our physical appearance — both a positive and a negative . . . depending upon how we feel about it — too tall or short, weight issues, attractiveness, and the list could go on and on. It may also stem from our family or family background, or how we were raised . . . personal experiences, our intelligence or lack thereof . . . whether it is easy or difficult to learn . . . and, of course, the choices we make.

Free will does seem to be a positive thing . . . but when we’re exposed to choices that are far from good for us, then it seems free will may not be a true factor . . . but more of a stimulus and response type of thing.

In many ways throughout the series, I wonder about Grace Hanadarko’s choices. Are they really her choices or a set pattern that was developed . . . a reaction . . . a rebellion . . . an expectation . . . And, whether she really thinks about what she’s doing?

It was in the final episode when I noticed Grace was wondering the same thing . . . She seemed to have everything worked out . . . and she made her choices . . . or reacted to them . . .

I’m always sad when a series ends . . . however it ends . . . just the fact that it is over is sad for me. It does allow me to experience something else . . . but it is sad leaving a good series and all those I’ve grown fond of watching . . .

There could be more of a storyline worth exploring . . . The development of other primary characters . . . and the choices they make and the opportunities they may experience . . .

I suppose a sign of a good series leaves you wanting to learn more or thinking about the numerous messages . . . or perhaps I read into things too much and should be happily entertained.

It’s Interesting How A Movie You Once Saw Comes To Mind When You Watch Another Movie Or A Series Even Though They May Not Be At All Remotely Related . . .

In The Mystery Of Her, The Lead Character Is In A Car Accident And Loses Her Long-Term Memory

The doctors are unclear as to the long-term or temporary effects of this memory loss . . . which leaves one wondering . . .

Alison Spenser, a high school student with friends and future plans all mapped out gets into a car accident and erases all memory of what was once so important to her . . . or was it . . .

Of course, we all have positive and negative memories . . . It would be wonderful to pick and choose those we want and those we don’t . . . But along with those memories come experiences and lessons . . . some much more positive than negative one would hope . . .

I think what I took away from this movie and found relatable to the Saving Grace series was discovering things about ourselves along the way . . . bad experiences do shape us . . . good experiences shape us as well . . . which ones have the most impact, one never knows . . .

Alison discovers a journal she was keeping. It wasn’t entirely clear what the journal entries meant other than she was not happy with the direction her life was going and she wanted to explore other things — her poetry as an example instead of soccer.

Grace was discovering how her choices have consequences . . . some she never really gave much thought to . . . she was busy with her life and enjoying it . . .

You may not draw similar parallels to the two pieces, but I think life is interesting . . . as are movies and the different takes writers and directors take in presenting a story . . .

I do thank you for stopping by! Please leave me a comment about any parallels you’ve noticed or add a movie or two you find follow a similar theme or message.

Blue Ridge The Movie

I sometimes have a bad habit of multi-tasking while I’m watching a movie. The problem is that I have to watch it again if I missed too much . . . And sometimes I just enjoyed it so much I wanted to view it again.

That’s the beauty of Amazon Prime Video . . . or owning your own DVD of a favorite movie. It makes it very convenient to view when you have the time to relax and enjoy with friends, family or even alone.

Prime Video has a huge selection available each and every month and throughout the year. Of course, there will be some of little or no interest to you at all . . . And then, you may just be surprised to watch something and really get into it . . .

Oh yes, this could work the other way — there’s a movie you want to see, looked forward to watching it . . . and it just didn’t deliver . . . Oh, I do dislike when that happens . . . But . . . There are always others to select.

I’m Not Into Spoilers. . .

I will tell you what made this movie interesting to me. I do like a mystery and I’m a real fan of old family frueds . . . And Blue Ridge had both . . .

Well, the sherrif was an outsider . . . You may be able to relate . . . I know I can . . . But, of course, he wanted to uphold law and order . . . It wasn’t that he was taking any side of the “fued” . . . He was trying to figure out whodunit.

As is true in most good movies in small towns . . . everyone has an agenda . . . and once you think you have a handle on the situation, more information comes to light . . .

I beieve its an excellent movie — one suitable for family viewing . . . Obviously, family is a key element in this plot . . .

I do hope you’ll take a look at this movie and check out Amazon Prime . . .

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Girls — Amazon Original Series

Paper Girls — Amazon Original Series

Wow! This Amazon Original Series is Science Fiction, Adventure, Fantasy, Action, Suspense, Horror and Drama all rolled into one fantastic series. I’ve watched the first episode and I’m hooked.

There are four girls with different backgrounds all coming together the day after Halloween known as Hell Day . . . They are paper girls — delivering the morning paper — It is first set in 1988 and they time travel to 2019 . . .

I’m not into giving spoilers — I want you to watch it and enjoy it for yourself.

All that I can say is the 2019 depicted in this series has elements I’m pleased were not part of my personal reality . . . This is a gripping tale that has you sitting on the edge of your seat.

I do like putting myself in the action and thinking about how I would deal with the situation . . . The concept of time travel is something I’m intrigued by, but don’t necessarily want to experience.

I highly recommend that you check this series out and see how it resonates with you.

This Is An Exciting 2022 Amazon Original Series

It’s directed by Georgi Banks-DaviesDestiny EkaraghaKaren Gaviola Mairzee Almas and starring Camryn JonesRiley Lai NeletSofia Rosinsky and Fina Strazza .

The producers are Christopher C. RogersStephany FolsomChristopher CantwellBrad PittDede GardnerJeremy KleinerChristina OhBrian K. VaughanCliff ChiangSteve PrinzCarina SposatoKai Yu WuLisa AlbertK.C. PerryGeorgi Banks-DaviesKaren GaviolaVail RomeynAndrea StilgenbauerMichelle Mogavero.

The first season of this series has 8 episodes. As with other Amazon Prime Series, I am always wanting more . . . So I do hope there is more to come in the future . . .

This seems like an unlikely group of girls who would be friends. Yet they all have one thing in common — paper routes . . . And then the strange experience of some sort of invasion — They decide to stick together . . . Then they are on a quest to return back to 1988 . . .

It is interesting for them to see what 31 years in the future brings . . . And then again 21 years . . . This does make me wonder what my goals and dreams were about my future when I was 12 years old. Did I really think about the future and what work I would be doing? My concern was probably focused on getting through my school work . . . I was very much a nerd.

I do hope you check out Paper Girls. And if you do, please leave me a comment below . . .

Back To The Rafters Review

It’s Truly Unfortunate How A Wonderful Series Can Come Back With All The Fan Fair And Be Awful . . . With A Few Exceptions

I was feeling guilty by not warming up to Ruby — the youngest of the Rafter children . . . Then I read the reviews on Amazon . . . Here’s one I think is worth discussing here . . .

Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2021

I saw a talk show in December 2019 that had most of the cast of “Packed to the Rafters”. They were discussing Amazon bringing a continuation series to Amazon streaming. Well, I was there for that! Filming was, of course, delayed due to COVID. “Back to the Rafters” is finally here and I binge watched all 6 episodes. The entire original cast were there, with the exception of Jessica Marais. She was replaced by Georgina Haig, whom I found a lot better. She’s a lot more mature and softer. Not as brittle.

No one has really changed, except Ted afflicted with Alzheimer’s. Michael Caton, you rule! Julie still thinks she knows all and can fix everything. Just want to shake her. Dave, I like Dave. He is correct. You can’t live your life for your kids. Before you had ’em, you had a life. Of course, J & D got married at like 18 when she got pregnant. So, they didn’t have much a of life before kids. Ben is still the non listener. All about him and what he wants. Takes after Julie, I think. He can get to be a pain. Nathan, the woe is me boy. Nothing works out for Nathan. He likes to run, but maybe he has found an anchor afterall. Now for Ruby. Super irritating. Now that kid needs a huge time out. If a second season is in the works, less of Ruby. Can’t stand her. Carbo hasn’t changed. Nothing new there. Retta, I’d like to see more of her, not just in one episode. Edward is cute and not irritating. Cassie, why? She and Ben just do not gel. I think that a different actress would have been better. Tessa, loved her and the earth mother vibe she gives off. Donna, she’s changed a bit and I like it. She likes to have a little fun now. Paddo was a nice addition. A gentle spirit and good that Dave has someone to relate with. I watched all of the original series last year between TubiTV and Hulu. I enjoyed the first couple of seasons more than the later ones, except for Jessica Marias. She just grated on me. I liked the fact that the first couple of seasons didn’t have more than a couple of dramas going on in each episode. Then, the dramas increased within each episode. Those full grown kids just being stupid, wasteful, nonchalant, inconsiderate and just plain idiots was hard to watch sometimes. But, I continued watching to see how things turned out for some of the characters. This continuation isn’t bad and I’m glad that they have moved part of the story to another place, but lose Ruby, the bratty kid, tone Julie’s efforts to run everyone’s life, make Ben address his it’s all about me issues, make Nathan be ok with who he is, make Rachel a warrior (she half way there) and Dave, he is the only one with some common sense in the sea of Rafter’s. He can stay the way he is.

I’m Not 100% In Agreement With This Review — But . . .

Of course we all have our opinions. We click with some characters more than others . . . I like Ben . . . Nathan, not so much . . . Ruby . . . makes Nathan look all right . . . I was warming up to Rachel . . . I’m still upset that Mel died . . . oops!! spoiler . . . And I’m not too fond of Ted . . . too bad the writers had to give him  Alzheimers, but that is life . . . Not something any of us want to experience.

I enjoyed the first few seasons of Packed To The Rafters . . . some of the latter ones were not as good . . . in my opinion. It could be a generation gap thing on my part — or I’m a bit of a snob . . . working class people aren’t criminals . . . yet Dave’s biological father had that element . . . and the family embraced it — giving second chances and all that . . . they are “family” . . . And what happened to Dave’s biological mother after we got Nathan’s kidney . . . traveling . . . in the later seasons she wasn’t mentioned. It makes me wonder if the Rafter’s (Dave, Julie and Ruby) left to get away from the riff-raff . . . Hopefully, if there is a second season, the Jennings clan won’t be visiting.

This “woke” thing . . . why does every new series have to be PC and “woke” . . . There have been lots of reviews about other series on Amazon that viewers didn’t like because this “woke” crap has filtered into the story . . . We want to be entertained — to escape the problems of the world and our own lives . . . We don’t appreciate being told how to think and what to believe. We don’t like pushy salesmen . . . so why would be accept an ideology that is contrary to logic and common sense!!! Give people credit for having some brain cells.

Too Bad I Didn’t Find Pictures With The Other New Cast Members

I like Tessa and Paddo. The country setting was what Ben had wanted at one time . . . I don’t know about Ruby . . . if she’ll settle down  — maybe it’s the “woke” brainwashing of public schools . . . at least in the USA . . . but we do spread our filth at times . . . Australia has seemed to have gone hog wild with the lock downs . . . Just an observation in oppression — so very “woke” of them!!

I should get off this topic . . . hopefully there will be a second season with more common sense and family harmony . . . We can have our daily life problems . . . but we don’t need to bring nonsense into the mix.

Thanks for stopping by! Leave me a comment — I’ve been receiving a bunch of spam lately. Don’t appreciate it, but it gives me something to delete.

Have You Watched Packed To The Rafters?

Packed To The Rafters

It’s a great title for a series about a family . . . kids leaving the nest . . . and returning . . .

It’s unfortunate that there has to be spoilers in reviews . . . That’s just how it sometimes has to be . . . So . . . that’s your warning.

I enjoyed this series. I even took a look at Back To The Rafters — I did want more . . . I’m not too sure about that . . . I haven’t warmed up to the youngest of the four Rafter children — Ruby . . . I’m keeping an open mind . . . I do wonder if there will be a second season of Back To The Rafters . . . Time will tell . . .

My Posts Seem To Be A Jumble Without Much Organized Thought

Yet, I see TwoCansOnAString.com much like a kitchen junk drawer . . . We need it!!

I suppose with blogging we do what feels good at the moment . . . How it comes together isn’t the issue — It’s that the content is there!!!

Wow! A Trailer Of Back To The Rafters

Be sure to sign-up for Amazon Prime if you don’t already have it!!!

I should have a link for you to click either in the footer or the sidebar . . . I don’t want to be pushy . . . But why aren’t you a Prime Member? Give yourself the gift of Prime!!!

An Interesting Cast Of Characters — The Family, The Neighbors . . . Friends . . . Co-Workers . . .

This is truly a heartwarming series . . . I cried . . . I also found myself becoming uncomfortable . . . Perhaps some things hit close to home or it shed light on my not being as opened minded as I’d like to be.

We all have opinions. We view things differently . . . We may accept the choices others make — perhaps we don’t like it or would make those choices in our lives . . . In my case, I may not truly understand . . . This could be the reason I watch such Prime Video series — to gain a better understanding of life — choices one can make . . . and see how things progress.

Life is full of lessons . . . some we learn . . . some we ignore . . . some we are not even aware . . .

I’m sure I’ve missed the boat on a lot of what life has to offer . . . I try to have an open mind . . . We do have our own priorities, thoughts, beliefs and opinions . . . I do wonder why we warm up to some and others we don’t — or even want to ignore and hope will just go away . . .

This is a series worth watching. Perhaps you’ll become reflective as I have . . .

Thanks for stopping by!
