Unusual Boxes Are Especially Great When You Can Make Them Yourself.
These work for all occasions . . . and it works well for you to keep some hidden treasures of your own safe.
I do love the design of this box and the ability to set it among other books for safe keeping. It’s also great to decorate for holidays and fill with goodies for family and friends.
No matter the design you choose and how you decide to use them, this free printable from Ray O’Bannon of Ravens Blight will be something you’ll enjoy for years to come.
Click the image at the right for the Gold Filigree Book Safe PDF. Or, if you prefer the Plain Black Book Safe. Oh, and you’ll need the Assembly Instructions.
I truly love Ray O’Bannon’s paper crafts. He does go for the dark side which is great for Halloween and making a Spell Book or to keep your lotions and potions. Or you can surprise everyone and do something completely unexpected . . .
It could be a good place to keep those secret family recipes . . . or other things of value. I think this may work quite nicely to give holiday goodies . . . I know one neighbor that may freak out when she sees it on her door step. But once she gets a good look at it and sees what’s inside . . . Well . . . maybe not . . .
Some people you just can’t please . . . and some just don’t have a sense of adventure . . .
I believe you can have a lot of fun with this Book Safe. You can decorate it however you wish for whatever occasion you choose. You could tuck some interesting goodies in the box — jewelry, pictures, special candies . . . gift cards . . . money . . . tickets to a play or concert . . . Maybe even a special card or small book . . .
Be sure to click the image and the links above and make a few of these for your own amusement and enjoyment.

In honor of Friday the 13th . . .
It’s true! Every Friday the 13th I stay home . . . maintaining a low profile . . . Yes, I am superstitious!
It’s not that anything has happened to me of a negative nature on that particular day — it’s just that I don’t make plans and I stay home . . . just to be on the safe side.
Now, doing a paper craft isn’t my thing — especially if I am to use an exacto knife . . . so, I’ll leave the printing out and cutting out and construction for this weekend . . . not today . . . Oh goodness, no — Not today!
This paper model is a Ray Keim creation from his website Haunted Dimensions. He has some lovely pieces that you should check out.
Phantom Manor has a lovely double staircase leading up to the porch . . . I truly like the design of this house . . . it has a definite story to tell . . . I do wonder who lives within the walls of the manor . . . are they friendly? Do they enjoy the company of the living? Do you dare go inside?
Not today for me . . . but maybe . . . and maybe not . . . I’m not the bravest person when it comes to haunted places . . .
This model you’ll be constructing is quite large — 12 inches high, 11 inches wide and 13 inches deep. This is a project that will keep you busy for quite some time.
It comes complete with instructions . . . and is recommended you print it out on card stock. You’ll want it to be sturdy and have it around for quite some time.
It’s important that you become acquainted with the pieces and the construction process before beginning. That’s perfect for me this Friday the 13th.
Have fun!

I love old stuff . . . and things that remind me of my childhood.
I remember my grandmother clipping recipes out of newspapers and magazines. She would sit at her kitchen table for hours organizing her recipes and writing them out on cards.
She could make a whole recipe book with the clippings she collected over the years. And all the cross outs she made to the recipes and notes she wrote in the margins. She knew what she liked and the amount of each ingredient that was necessary to make the perfect dish.
The more I think about it, the more I’m delighted I’m into crafting. I can make this mini album of Grandma’s Recipes . . . if I only had it. Yes, this happens. Family members do have a tendency to “borrow” things and never returning them. I just hope that wherever it is, it has enriched the lives of those who have used those recipes . . . and it may be collecting dust somewhere . . . forgotten . . . or tossed out decades ago.
It doesn’t really matter. We have access to millions of recipes on the internet and in cook books and in magazines and newspapers. These seem to circulate regularly . . . some “found” recipe tucked away for safe keeping has found its way to be shared.
Exactly like these vintage recipe cards. I like them because they remind me, it’s never too early to learn how to cook and bake . . . and collect recipes. Just click the image to be taken to the page to print out this recipe card.
Have fun!

I don’t know what got me so jazzed up with Harry Potter . . . but here I am with free printables you may enjoy and love making for family and friends.
It did start out innocent enough with a post I was writing here on my OldHauntedStuff Blog.
One thing led to another and then I got into checking out Harry Potter Chocolate Frog Boxes you can make and fill with Easter goodies . . . or something . . . interesting.
I always love boxes! And these seem quite special for Harry Potter fans. I know there are hundreds of thousands of you.
Just click the image and be taken to a page where you can download the box in a zip file.
Yes, and there are the collectable cards that go with it!!
Just click the image and you’ll be taken to a page where you can download the cards in a zip file.
These will definitely be fun to share with your family and friends. These would be excellent for birthday parties or special get togethers.
It may be good for a back to school party or even one for graduation. You’ll need to get some frog molds to put inside your box . . . it is easy to make your own chocolate . . . and I’m sure there are places where you can buy chocolate frogs.

I fell in love with Thumper when I first saw him in Bambi.
So every spring and Easter, I get thinking about him.
Initially, I was thinking of just printing out Thumper and forgetting about the basket. I would love to make other crafts using his image throughout the year. Wouldn’t he look great wrapped up in Christmas lights?
If you do want to print out and make the Easter Basket, just click the image and you’ll be taken to the download and print page.
You can definitely have some great fun filling these Easter baskets with goodies for your family, friends and neighbors.
I would print these out on cardstock and maybe reinforce the pieces by gluing them on chip board or old cereal boxes or soda can boxes or any cardboard you have around. If you plan on putting Easter eggs in them, the baskets may not be sturdy enough to hold them. Or put a note on them to pick up and support the bottom of the basket.
There’s also the Thumper 3-D Easter Card you may want to make.
Spring seems to be in the air . . . no better time than to get thinking about Easter. It will be here sooner than you think.
Enjoy!
