Late yesterday afternoon we had a great thunder storm. It sounded like it was right over my house when the rain came peppering down on my roof with the thunderous roar and flashes of lightning. I hadn’t experienced such a hard rain in quite some time.
My precious Yorkie Diva didn’t know what to make of it. She barked, but soon decided it was best to sit with me and ride it through.
We did go out to the patio to get a look around. The rain came down so hard and fast, the drain in my patio couldn’t accommodate all the water. There was a big puddle waiting and growing larger as the rain persisted. Diva was content to watch from my arms. We went indoors with a loud clap of thunder — Diva didn’t like it and wanted to be in the comfort of her home and bed, surrounded by her toys.
Yes, I pretty much felt the same way. Indoors with a good book was what I wanted to ride out the thunderstorm raging outside.
I welcomed the storm. We need the rain. I was praying no fires or flooding would mar this blessed event. Moments before the downpour, I heard on the radio that we had a 40% chance of rain Thursday or Friday. Well, as always we have to experience the weather to get an accurate forecast.
It looks like we might be in for an interesting spring.
I’m not a great photographer, but practice makes perfect and I have the best model. Little Diva arrived Thursday, March 12, 2015. It was an exciting day. I introduced her to my friend Julie in a Google+ video chat. She was glad her long trip was over and she was delivered in my arms by 2 PM PST. It was a long day for her. She snuggled in my arm and took a little snooze. Then she wanted to eat. So, of course, I fed her. She was a hungry girl. Then some water and a nice romp outside and she was ready to explore her new home.
Here are a few pictures:
Yes, I know she looks like she has a plant growing out of her head, but I assure you she doesn’t. The lighting and background aren’t the best, but you do what you can with what you have available with lighting and a safe work space. Diva is being cooperative and indulging my whim to take pictures.
Here’s Diva from Sharon Harvey’s private picture collection.

Diva is a little tired from her romp in the backyard and telling the neighbor it was time to stop their party making. She tore off barking, then came back very satisfied with herself.
To tell you the truth, I think she got a little scared (as did I) by going out in the night with such a burst of energy.
Diva doesn’t have her top knot today. We decided to be a bit casual, but when I got the camera out she wasn’t too happy to be photographed with a flat head . . . but she positioned herself in front of the vase so the flowers would substitute for her top knot . . . or she was trying for moose antlers. I don’t know for sure, but the next pictures need to be a lot better if I’m to satisfy my little Diva.
I’d like to thank Yvette, Diane and Jerry for getting Diva safely to me. Diva is a Firebrand Yorkie from http://firebrandyorkies.com and Pacific Pet Transport picked Diva up and brought her from LAX to my door. It was a busy, exhausting day for Diva, but she arrived safely and happy. I couldn’t be more delighted with my beautiful Diva.
I’m looking around for some great bows to tie up Diva’s top knot. I kind of liked the snap on bows in this video:
I hope this video was informative and gave you an alternative to the bands and bows you’ve been using. YouTube has plenty of tutorials on making some fancy top knots for your four paws and a tail sweethearts.
Here’s a great video tutorial I enjoyed:
I hope this gave you some food for thought when creating an impressive bow for your loving pet. I know Diva will really be styling when I put them in her top knot.
With the approaching of a New Year my thoughts turn to things I haven’t accomplished and wondering what opportunities will be coming my way. I do make a vow to myself to not worry about things, but to seek the good in everything I do. It’s important to wake up every morning with a smile on your face and happiness in your heart.
I do believe we receive answers to our prayers . . . the trick is to be alert enough to recognize it. We are blessed in so very many ways. During Thanksgiving many took the time to think about their many blessings and spoke of the many things they were thankful for . . . it should be a daily thing of giving thanks for our many blessings . . . not wait for Thanksgiving. The same is true of Christmas . . . that Christmas spirit should still be with us . . . yes it is sometimes to difficult to keep those thoughts . . . it’s much much more fun decorating than it is putting everything away . . .
Then there’s New Year’s Eve . . . having a party . . . going to a party . . . or celebrating quietly at home. It can be a quiet time of reflection or a time to remember all the good times and thoughts about the coming year ahead.
However you spend your New Year’s Eve, I wish you happiness and let it spread throughout the New Year!

The concept behind these goodie bags is to keep your guests entertained until the final countdown bag at midnight. That’s where you’ll find the noise makers and whatever grand finale you want to put in the bag for your guests to bring in the New Year!
The free printables clocks begin at 7, but you can begin your countdown at 9 or anytime, actually. It all depends upon how many goodies you’ve collected for your guests and when they may need a boost to remain awake until midnight.
I combine family game night with my countdown to midnight. I have plenty of snacks, hot chocolate and coffee prepared. We also tell ghost stories and do some reminiscing about the good times we’ve shared on other New Year’s Eves and dream a bit about the goals and expectations for the New Year.
One thing that is helpful is to have guests responsible for filling one countdown bag. It’s amazing what they find at craft stores, dollar stores, thrift shops and in bargain bins. Everyone contributes to the midnight bag as well. This adds to the excitement and the build up.
This is a fun activity and every year it is different and fun.
Donny Osmond posted this on his Facebook page. Of course it was picked up by others who reposted it and here I am reposting it.

There are some moments that only happen once in a lifetime — Dec 13 at 3:16 pm is just an example — 12/13/14 15:16:17.
What is one thing you haven’t done before, that you’ve always wanted to do — even just once — but, you never did?
I’m in the process of writing a novel. I’ve written and published 3 children’s books, so maybe it’s something.
Then I got thinking of a post I put up on http://gameboarddiva.com I was reviewing a game and I got thinking about it and how I would add to it. I was also amazed that a child and her sister created a card game and got it published for other kids to play and enjoy.
Yes, I would like to create a board, card and/or dice game and have some company publish it for me. It would be quite an accomplishment to be a game creator, in my opinion for me.
