Yes, yes, I know it’s August, but you can never begin too early with your Halloween decorating ideas.
Goodness!! You can go creepy, funny or cute; scary, disgusting or thought provoking.
I think if I went to so much work decorating a pumpkin I would go with an artificial pumpkin that I could pack away and bring out year after year. And as long as you’re at a craft store, you might as well take a good look around for various elements you may want to set on top of your pumpkin.
This idea is definitely something you may want to keep in mind while you’re shopping. You never know what may catch your eye.
And be sure to shop for bargains. I’m usually not one to go to the dollar bargain bins, but I’ve found some real treasures that no one else wanted and it was perfect for one of my holiday projects.
Sometimes it’s nice to have something in mind, but it can be quite refreshing to throw caution to the wind and collect things to your heart’s content and see what great creation materializes for you.
You can also use some of the free printables I’ve posted here. A pumpkin may be just the right setting. Take a look in the archives. I have a collection of houses, boxes and wreaths, cakes and cupcakes — everything can be fashioned in other media to put on top of your pumpkin decoration.
Yes, indeed there is . . . or someone is goofing with me!
Doesn’t the graveyard look like cocoa powder? Yum! Hot Chocolate Grave Dirt. And those rocks could be Rock Candy.
I’ve usually done the Cookie Exchange thing for Christmas, but why not start it off with A Halloween Cookie Exchange! Wouldn’t that be frightfully delicious? And continue with a Thanksgiving Cookie Exchange all to hit the Grand Finale of the Christmas Cookie Exchange!
I think it’s always good to plan ahead with your great selection of holiday cookie ideas for each season. I don’t know about you, but now would be a perfect time to gather all the “seasonal” cookie recipes together and see how many we have stored away somewhere . . . I would imagine by combining Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas we have well over a hundred or two or maybe three hundred of them . . . but where are they?
I’m Sure I’ve Published Over A Dozen Halloween Cookie Recipes
I’m going to need to go through my archives and revisit them throughout National Cookie Month and beyond. Cookies with a theme or season are always fun.
These Creepy Spider Treats are a bit too much for me, but they could be a major hit with your guests at your Halloween Party or for your Halloween Cookie Exchange. What do you think?
Are those Rice Krispie spider eggs? I’m getting a bit creeped out!!
There are plenty of spiders and critters you can fashion out of cookies and candy pieces . . . How about that One Eyed, One Horned Flying Purple People Eater?
The Blob would be fun, but you have to keep it in a mound and add red food coloring to it . . . Maybe have a No Bake Truffle you can dip in those red chocolate melts.
You may go with other movies you’ve seen that have various paranormal entities . . .
Of course, there are plenty of monsters — Frankenstein, the Mummy, Bride of Frankenstein, zombies that are growing in popularity — witches, ghosts, ghouls and even goblins . . . You may have your hand full with those . . .
I don’t want to get too creepy with brains and gore and guts, but you can do what appeals to you. I’m into more of the fun stuff that’s kid friendly . . .
Thanks for stopping by!
Be sure to add a picture and recipe in the comments below. We can start getting this Halloween Cookie Exchange off to a great start.
Oh, by the way, I’ve had this song buzzing around in my head. It wouldn’t be polite for me to keep it all to myself. Here’s a video you may enjoy:
Now, wasn’t that enlightening 🙂
And, now for those of you who may not be familiar with The Blob:
It’s Great Fun To Get Your Halloween Projects Started Early.
Grab what you can early in the season and you’ll have time to play around with these before you decide on what you’re going to do with them.
It seems natural that these would make great trophies for a Costume Party or Halloween Party. You could also make an interesting wreath with these skeletons all dressed up or in their glory in different poses.
There’s the adorable couple on the left and the one on the far right seems to be taking a bow. The one in the middle is “striking a pose.” And the other remaining ones may be doing some sort of dancing . . . They do indeed look like people we know, don’t you think?
Buy some bases for them and you could have a great time posing them and gluing them in place. You could use some spray paint and make them shine!
It is inspiring to see these skeletons and allowing the imagination to go a bit wild. I’d like to get some mini pumpkins and put them in a pumpkin patch for an interesting centerpiece display.
It’s interesting how one idea leads to another . . . and another . . . stock up on these guys! Good times on in store for you!
I know I changed the theme quite a bit with the mini treasure chests and gold coins, but I have to grab ideas as they present themselves. Pirates is a major popular theme and I could see these mini treasure chests selling out before you’ve discovered they’re available.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you’ve decided to do with your skeletons.
These aren’t to print out, but to give you ideas of the various labels people have made for bottles of all shapes and sizes. It most likely is giving you ideas of names of labels you might want to make. I’ve thought of a few:

Your list could go on and on. All you need is a little inspiration.
Let’s see about some bottles:
You’re all set to create some amazing labels right out of your own imagination. You can use family names such as “Pete’s Killer Charm” or “Lynne’s Winning Personality” or “Gramps Grumpy Gum” You could fill them with different candies that would fit with the label and give them away as party favors.
I’m sure you’ll come up with just the right sayings to make into labels you can paste to these jars.
I find it fun to keep the excitement of Halloween available all year round — especially when you’re watching a scary movie or just want to put a bit of a twist on a regular snack — it’s the spirit of the thing that counts.
I can’t believe I’m getting into the spirit of Halloween before summer! It may have been creeping in from time to time . . . it’s just such a fun holiday.
Many of my friends can’t wait a whole year until Halloween rolls around, so they have various Bewitching Masquerade Parties. It’s just an excuse to have a Halloween Party to celebrate every season and any time when the mood strikes to have a party with all the Halloween fun they seem to enjoy.
