I Love A Rainy Day

Yes, It’s True.

Rainy days are truly a blessing.

It’s a time to relax and get into crafts. I did give you a wide variety of Disney Character Treat Boxes to make for your children.

And let’s not forget the Free 3-D Printable you can made of R2-D2 for all your Star Wars fans.

For many, rainy days bring up thoughts of Halloween . . . I don’t know why, but ghost stories and the like are a favorite on rainy days around my house. Also thoughts of all those urban legends you heard as a child or teen. There were lessons to learn from them . . . and the thought of them brings a cold chill down the spine.

Then, a rainy day is a good day to curl up with a nice book . . . a mystery is always my choice, but a romance may be more to your liking.

There are also videos you may enjoy. But crafts seem to win out for me.

What Kind Of Rainy Day Craft Do I Have For You?

Click The Lighthouse To Be Taken To The Download Page. And click here for the assembly instructions.

I love the haunted houses . . . especially if they have a story associated with them.

Ravensblight has a variety of 3-D haunted house free printables you can print out and make. Ray O’Bannon offers an interesting history to go along with most of his papercrafts.

This lighthouse is no exception.

According to Ray, all the previous lighthouse keepers have gone insane . . .

I don’t want to ruin the story for you. Be sure to think about it while you’re constructing this lighthouse . . . It stands 10-1/2 inches high and would be a wonderful addition to your Christmas or Halloween Village . . . or to have tucked away on a book shelf.

I find it inspirational in my office. I look at it and wonder . . . I think of all the other stories that are centered around a lighthouse . . . and Ray has some monsters you can add and you may want to add an old abandoned car . . . it’s always fun to add some added haunted accessories to make it more real and more captivating.

Oh yes, I did forget the Cliff House. It, too has a delightful history.

It is quite sad to see how it has wasted away over the years. The roof, the windows and the porch do give it quite a creepy, desolate feel. It is a miracle it hasn’t fallen down. But, in another decade or so, it may be just a memory.

These Spooky Offerings And Disney Boxes Are A Delightful Way To Spend Your Time On A Rainy Day

It’s good to keep busy and learn something new about Ravensblight. It is a website I visit often . . . but insofar as Ravensblight, the community . . . as a real place to live . . . uh . . . I think I’ll pass . . .

This reminds me of a haunted place in a movie I saw quite a few years ago. A family went off the beaten path to find this ghost town . . . and as with most movies, wished they hadn’t. There is something to be said about curiosity . . . maybe somethings aren’t worth finding out . . .

I just know . . . or I think I know Ray O’Bannon is having fun . . . and he’s created a wonderful collection of haunted toys that are free to print out and assemble . . . and he does warn you they are haunted . . . and he adds a history to go along with them . . .

I hope you’re enjoying your day and will take a look at the links I’ve provided.

Until next time,

Have Some Fun With Skeletons

It’s Great Fun To Get Your Halloween Projects Started Early.skeletontrophies

Grab what you can early in the season and you’ll have time to play around with these before you decide on what you’re going to do with them.

It seems natural that these would make great trophies for a Costume Party or Halloween Party. You could also make an interesting wreath with these skeletons all dressed up or in their glory in different poses.

There’s the adorable couple on the left and the one on the far right seems to be taking a bow. The one in the middle is “striking a pose.” And the other remaining ones may be doing some sort of dancing . . . They do indeed look like people we know, don’t you think?

Buy some bases for them and you could have a great time posing them and gluing them in place. You could use some spray paint and make them shine!

It is inspiring to see these skeletons and allowing the imagination to go a bit wild. I’d like to get some mini pumpkins and put them in a pumpkin patch for an interesting centerpiece display.

It’s interesting how one idea leads to another . . . and another . . . stock up on these guys! Good times on in store for you!

I know I changed the theme quite a bit with the mini treasure chests and gold coins, but I have to grab ideas as they present themselves. Pirates is a major popular theme and I could see these mini treasure chests selling out before you’ve discovered they’re available.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you’ve decided to do with your skeletons.

What’s Next?

WIN_20150702_160411 (2)

There are always holidays anticipated . . . and gone . . . What’s next?

Nothing more in July, then nothing in August . . . unless Back to School is a major concern on your radar and To Do List . . . maybe a vacation is in the works . . . maybe a camping trip or visiting friends and family . . . Labor Day in September . . . Columbus Day in October and of course, Halloween . . . is it too early to go with Halloween? Why am I asking, I’ve been putting in all kinds of Halloween or fall related stuff in here. It does take time to get some projects completed in anticipation of Halloween or any special holiday to you. Some people anticipate Christmas all year round . . . this is their thing . . . just as with any other holiday we find of special significance to us. Some people who find the 4th of July special may be right now planning for next year’s 4th of July bash.

Diva has something to say about the 4th of July:

After the 3 A.M. wake-up call yesterday. The day went pretty normally except for the goodies cooking on the BBQ. I was in great aromas heaven. By the time the boom-booms started up again I was tired and was getting some well deserved nap time. I was right next to Mom the whole time and she told me everything was all right and I was safe and I could rest . . . so I did. I would look to make sure Mom was still there. She was busy working on something, so if she wasn’t concerned, I didn’t need to be either. So I slept while Mom was in charge. All I can say is that the 4th of July is a great day for America. I am an American, too. I was born right here in the good ol’ USA. It’s all about Independence and America’s birthday. I learned about birthdays with my first one just a while back. I got a couple of new toys for my birthday that had napping time with me. So with the great 4th of July celebration, I learned about a new holiday. The best part is Mom and I celebrated it together. If it’s a holiday or just any ol’ day, I’m happy to be with my Mom . . .  . and I know she loves being with me . . . My little lamb has a squeaky inside that needs to be squeaked . . .

Halloween1

Maybe I should have changed the caption to read: Did I hear someone mention Halloween?

I suppose it is never too early to work on different craft ideas or to begin thinking about Halloween costumes. That is a big deal. You do need to have a good idea early what you want before you get all confused by the variety of costumes.

Depending upon the weather where you live, warmth and comfort are major factors besides being that something you want to be or your children want to be. I remember as a kid wanting to be comfortable. I didn’t like wearing a mask. I wasn’t too fond of having my head and face covered. Wearing make-up was better than wearing a mask. I liked to be able to see where I was going and I didn’t want to trip on my costume . . . especially going up and down steps. These are important things to think about with your costume selection. Now, if you’re just going to a party and not going trick-or-treating then your selection may be completely different. Sometimes it is fun to get your friends to dress up like you and do some song and dance routine. The Roaring ’20’s flapper costumes are great fun and the hair and make-up you can do. Then you can learn to dance the Charleston and everyone will be joining in the fun, too. I wonder if there are some costumes for that . . . When you get an idea, you have to act on it quickly before it spreads and there are no costumes available.

Well, here are some ideas that you have plenty of time to work out. It’s important to get the right accessories. Definitely food for thought that may lead you in a completely different direction.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thoughts of Summer

summerwallpaper

It may not officially be summer, but the weather is feeling as though it is. We’ve been experiencing some of the normal June Gloom, but lately it has gotten hot and I do mean hot . . . high 90’s and threatening to reach triple digits.

Summer is not my favorite season . . . its the long, hot days that get me down. I do love it when the sun does go down and the evening gets cooler, but then the mosquitoes come out and chase me inside. I do love the BBQ and my vegetable garden, but it is primarily the heat that I don’t enjoy. I enjoy picnics in the mountains, camping by a running stream, telling ghost stories around an open fire . . . all things that have to do with cooler temperatures and a different setting.

Summer is a time to go on vacation . . . to get out of the summer heat . . . just as others see winter as a vacation time away from the cold harsh winter.

I do wonder if we’re ever satisfied with where we live and the weather conditions, regardless of the season. I may be a fair weather individual who likes to be comfortable . . . I prefer the cold to the heat, but not freezing cold . . . but with the right clothing, it may work. The problem with summer is that you can only take off so much clothing . . .

I have my neighborhood power walkers who get up early and pound the sidewalk. There are also the early morning joggers, jogging in the street. Of course, the dog walkers, too. These are hearty health conscious souls who are dedicated to their exercise ritual rain or shine throughout the year.  Ice cream sales go up . . . and women complaining about gaining weight, but they’re hooked on ice cream sundaes for dessert every night. Many resort to using the slow cooker and BBQ. They’re looking for recipes of s’mores . . . I’m surprised by the variety I’ve come across . . . even a dip that is quite delicious and gooey.

It’s a good time to get into crafts — many for Halloween, but many go right into Christmas while others are into Easter . . . we all have our favorite season and our favorite holiday that interests us throughout the year. I had an old friend who loved Christmas so much she would have a Christmas in July party. This was so she could celebrate all the good things about the holiday without the bickering of relatives.

Halloween is also quite popular with summer and spring costume parties. My ghost hunting group loves having costume parties to tell and retell stories about their various adventures. Or to watch several of the popular series and make comments during the episode. Yes, we are critics . . . I like to learn something new . . . I’m not that adventuresome to go out to places at night to get the wits scared out of me. I’ve gone out during the day . . . at least this way when I run out of a known haunted place screaming it’s not in the dead of night. And, if you’re wondering, ghosts haunt 24/7/365. The reason most ghost hunting is done at night is because most of them work and there could be something to the “witching hour” concept. I just believe it’s a time when people are expecting something creepy, scary and paranormal to happen. And with the various urban legends and ghost stories, they happen at night . . . along with other disturbing things we hear about on the nightly news.

Whatever your holiday preference, summer is an excellent time to get your decorating ideas in gear and doing your crafts.

Summer is also a great time to get out and take pictures. It’s really an everyday thing, but vacations and holidays seem to be the reason for taking pictures. For some, they like to watch the heavens . . . some for UFOs and others just to do some serious star gazing.

There are many activities you may enjoy that I haven’t mentioned here. It does seem to be a long season, especially when I’m waiting for fall . . . but you’ll hear about it in September and may have read about it last September . . . my long anticipation of fall. Come to think of it, I’m longing for it right now.

These are just some thoughts that have been going through my head . . . and my observations while shopping . . . overhearing snip-its of conversations . . .

Have a great summer! I’ll be putting up more recipes and holiday ideas . . . yes, I do get into Halloween early . . .
